Why is parasite prevention so important for pets?

When left untreated, parasites can cause a wide range of medical complications. Ticks can transmit serious illnesses like Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Fleas can lead to irreversible hair loss, anemia, skin infections and allergic reactions. Worms can cause irreversible organ damage, weight loss, diarrhea and death.

Can I get parasites from my pet?

Yes! Worms are the most common parasites passed from pets to humans. You can get worms by touching traces of your pet’s feces. When you protect your pet from parasites, you are also protecting yourself and other people in your household.

Do pets need parasite control in the winter?

Absolutely. Fleas, ticks and other parasites can survive in the winter. Certain types can also hibernate and fully develop in the spring where they will wreak maximum havoc. Your pet can still be exposed to them in various indoor areas. Parasites can also make their way inside your home through you, other people, animals and objects.
